It seems the ongoing collaboration between après-sport fashion house Casablanca and New Balance continues to bear fruit at a breakneck pace. In prepping ‘Drop III’, the two mega brands are looking to the Australian release of the New Balance 237 and 327 silhouettes, designed to align with the distinctively cool and casual Casablanca aesthetic.
The previous drops from this collaboration have already been met with massive demand, so Drop III should be no exception. It’s particularly exciting given the pared back design when compared to previous drops, with both styles featuring a wedged heel, suede, mesh and nylon upper, and the recognisable Casablanca monogram design and white/green colourway.
The 237, a new silhouette, will be released in the same monogram design and colour palette as the long-established 327. Anyone paying attention to recent New Balance drops might recognise the 237 already from 1970s-inspired release which sported a patchwork-like design made up from some of the most important drops in New Balance history.
We first started to see the results of Casablanca’s collaboration with New Balance last year, when the 327 dropped in two attractive colourways. One was the green & orange designed inspired by Moroccan sweet oranges, and the uniform green taking cues from tennis uniforms. Both were worked to reference the dual French-Moroccan heritage of Casablanca founder Charaf Tajer, while also nodding the the sophistication of Italian sportscars with the use of subtle white leather.
The new releases will see a national Australian launch online from March 5th, as well as select allocations shipped to some of Australia’s best menswear stores including Up There, Above the Clouds, and Subtype
Both shoes will be available in a very limited capacity, priced at $180 for 237 and $220 for the 327. Given how high the demand was for the previous collaboration drops, it’s safe to say these won’t last very long.
