Anyone who missed out on the previous releases will soon have a chance – albeit mighty slim – to secure their very own pair of dynamic Nike Adapt Auto Max self-lacing sneakers, featuring the brand’s patented FitAdapt technology, and this time around, appearing in a fresh two-tone teal + grey colourway known as ‘Jetstream’.
A visual, technological, and overall cultural reference to the Nike Air MAGs worn by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly in Back To The Future Part II (1989), the Adapt Auto Max sneakers firmly establishes itself as the kicks of, well… the future. Beyond the obvious draw of power laces which allows you to set and save the perfect fit and look, it also comes with performance features – one mode dedicated to actual physical activity, and another for general wear/relaxation.

Siri Shortcut and Google Assistant enabled, for those of you looking to hark back to those simpler days of flexing on your fellow toddlers at pre-school – or for those of you who are just a sucker for novelty expression – Nike has taken it upon themselves to integrate a lighting function; customise your Adapt Auto Max sneakers to “pulse” for up to an hour and adjust the settings via the Nike Adapt companion app as well as nothing more than your voice (once fine-tuned at your own discretion, of course).
The Nike Adapt Auto Max self-lacing sneakers in ‘Jetstream’ will retail for US$400 on December 26th, and likely multiples of that on the aftermarket. Local pricing and availabilities have still yet to be announced.
