It isn’t surprising that Roger Federer has a soft spot for the Switzerland-based brands that he endorses, evident in his enduring relationship with Rolex, enthusiasm for Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate and the On Running shoes you always see on his feet. Within his partnership with the Swiss footwear brand, THE ROGER Clubhouse sneaker has proven to be an enormously popular silhouette and this week On Running has announced an all-new mid version of the classic style.

THE ROGER collection was first launched by On Running in collaboration with Roger Federer back in the middle of 2020 and has since been expressed in a number of different designs and colourways, including the Clubhouse, Advantage and Centre Court. In something of a ’90s throwback, however, On Running has injected a retro element into the Clubhouse design by executing the silhouette in a mid-tube variation reminiscent of years gone by.

While past editions of the Clubhouse have always been designed with low-rise silhouettes, which are generally a little more formal and easier to wear on the day-to-day. Elevating the profile to a mid certainly makes the Clubhouse more sporty and casual look, which is perfect for visiting your local court with friends for a game or two.

While the low-rise version of the Clubhouse clearly draws inspiration from tennis style, it also has a design that is informed by elements of street style.

“We wanted to come up with a product that would stand out from the inline collection and make a bolder statement,” explained Linn Kandel, a Senior Product Designer for the shoe. “When it comes to the colorways, this iteration of THE ROGER Clubhouse is influenced by contemporary art and street style.”

The new On Running THE ROGER Clubhouse mid features a mesh and white vegan leather upper, with CloudTec and Speedboard midsole technology for optimised comfort. While we’re waiting on specific AUD pricing, they currently arrive with an RRP of US$180 (~AU$252).
