Celebrated chef and personality Anthony Bourdain’s eclectic watch collection has just popped up for sale at iGavel Auctions.
The watches are part of a larger collection of pieces from the late chef’s estate that you can bid on until October 30. A statement on iGavel gives you the full low down of the offering;
“This auction showcases nearly 200 lots that Anthony Bourdain personally acquired during his life and it includes some of his most valued possessions: artwork, books, home and decorative furnishings, knives, wristwatches, apparel and more.”
Although there are only eight watches available, the collection does include two Rolexes and a Patek Philippe. The jewel in the crown is the stylish Panerai Radiomir wristwatch, currently slated to go for the highest price at (just) US$11,500, while the square TAG Heuer Monaco is currently listed at US$10,000.
Other highlights include a J Jacot Locle Coin Silver pocket watch (US$1,700), the ever-sophisticated Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Blue Dial (US$10,000) and a vintage 1930 Rolex 9-karat Rose Gold watch (US$3,700) that Bourdain most likely inherited from his father.
While the majority of money raised will go to his family, 40 per cent will be donated to a scholarship in his name at The Culinary Institute of America, helping preserve Bourdain’s legacy while continuing to assist new chefs pursue their dreams.
