There’s never been a better time for an Aussie to get into watches, with a number of brands creating unique limited edition timepieces for our enthusiasts around the country. Breitling is the most recent to join the fray, announcing an Australian-exclusive limited edition of the fan-favourite Chronomat Automatic GMT 40, which flaunts one of the most eye-catching dials we’ve seen in a while.

It was less than a year ago that the Breitling Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 was announced as a re-vamped expression what is among the Grenchen-based watchmaker’s most enduring designs. Showcasing an immediately recognisable integrated rouleaux bracelet and the everyday practicality of a GMT function, it’s a design that looks great from every angle (especially the neatly tucked away date window at 6 o’clock).

For the Australian limited edition of the Breitling Chronomat Automatic GMT 40, we get a brilliant sunray brushed teal colour, providing the perfect canvas for the orange GMT hand to pop against. The other uniquely Australian detail can be found after flipping the watch over, where you’ll see the Koala caseback engraving to represent the natural wildlife of our country; contrasting the mechanical complexity of a Swiss timepiece.

Featuring a 40mm stainless steel case and an integrated bracelet, it’s a proper everyday timepiece with a robust 200-metre of water resistance, a comfortable 11.7mm profile on the wrist, and a rotating bezel. Limited to just 150 pieces exclusively for Australian boutiques, this special Breitling Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 arrives with an $8,990 RRP.

Don’t be surprised if this bad boy sells out quick-smart.
