It’s no secret that Bulgari is a serious force in the watchmaking game. This year, they’ve already broken their seventh watchmaking world record in seven years with the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar, in addition to dropping a collaboration with DJ Steve Aoki. Now, we’re receiving the all-black-everything Bulgari Bulgari Black, which is as stealthy as they come.

The Bulgari Bulgari collection was launched as the brand’s very first dedicated men’s watch collection back in 1977. Instantly recognisable due to the BVLGARI-BVLGARI engraving around the bezel, it has been the basis for dozens of watches in the decades since. With the new Bulgari Bulgari Black, we have plenty of the collection’s original DNA, blended with a few ruthlessly contemporary design elements.

The completely black PVD-coated case measures 41mm in diameter, consistent with the rest of the current collection. Where things get really cool is the integrated bracelet in contrast to the leather or rubber straps that have been featured across the rest of the collection.

The bracelet has an interesting blend of polished and brushed finishings that contrast nicely with one another, bringing the monochromatic timepiece to life with the movement of the wearer’s wrist. In terms of construction, the bracelet also looks complex and dynamic using a unique two-piece link.

The dial of the Bulgari Bulgari Black is coarsely grained, with applied silver hour markers and hands. The only other feature on the dial is the black-on-black date window at three o’clock. Flipping the watch over and we have an exhibition caseback that offers an uninterrupted view of the automatic BVL-191 calibre that boasts a 42-hour power reserve.

The Bulgari Bulgari Black is due to be released at the Geneva Watch Days event in Switzerland, which is currently scheduled for the end of August. At this stage, prices are also unconfirmed.
