At Baselworld 2019, Casio dropped their latest addition to their EDIFICE collection, the Casio EQB-1000D, based on the brand concept “Speed and Intelligence.”
The new Casio EQB-1000D packs a low-profile timekeeping module into a slim steel case inspired by high-tech sports cars. The newly developed timekeeping module sees a reduction in size of all movement components, mounted to a single side of the circuit board, rather than on both sides like previous models, resulting in a svelte 8.9mm case height, 4.1mm thinner than the existing model.
The design, inspired by high-tech sports cars, emphasises the slim profile with a flat bezel and precisely shaped lugs. The bezel and dial are treated with a hairline finish that replicates precision-machined automotive parts while the four perfectly position bezel screws suggest the dense build of a race car engine.
Continuing the automotive theme, the Casio EQB-1000D features practical functions for measuring lap time with the new ‘Last Lap Indicator’ displaying the difference from the previous lap time on the inset dial within a range of minus five to plus one seconds. The EQB also sports Casio’s ‘Tough Solar’ charging system, a subtle date window, and dual time functionality, with a sub-dial displaying a second timezone which, when paired with the EDIFICE app, can be changed instantly to one of over 300 cities worldwide.
The Casio EQB-1000D is a handsome and versatile watch that combines precision timekeeping for motorsports with an attractive slim profile perfect for suiting attire and casual wear.
