In a bid to charm the pants off the entire international watch community (as if Talking Watches Pt. 1 and 2 weren’t enough) legendary singer/guitarist John Mayer – AKA Jawn Major – is poised to launch the third version of his limited edition G-Shock, in collaboration with Hodinkee, just before the commencement of the holiday season.

The LE, scheduled to go live on the latter’s website on December 13 (EST) at an as-yet-undisclosed time follows on from two similar launches in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Both those G-Shocks utilised the basic design language of the ever-popular DW6900; fusing this together with colour schemes inspired by the Casio electronics favoured by bedroom musos during the 1980s – a classic slice of Mayer esotera that speaks to the Sob Rock creator’s penchant for wily nostalgia.

Should we be able to assume a certain degree of predictability, it’s plausible that this newest John Mayer x HODINKEE x G-Shock team-up (gosh, what a mouthful) will remain comfortably within the sandbox that is the DW6900.

Press images are woefully thin on the ground right now, but from what netizens can gather (using screencaps of Instagram and the launch’s landing page) this particular LE will be inspired by the architecture of the Casio PT-1 – yet another vintage synthesizer with a cult following, which on a number of occasions was offered in a rare shade vaguely resembling the now-infamous Tiffany blue.

As with all products which possess even the most tenuous connection to the Hodinkee universe, would-be-coppers are advised to head on over to the website and join the mailing list. Beyond that, we’ll have to wait until later tonight to get our first legitimate look at the new ‘John Mayer’ edition – best of luck to all those playing from home.
