Weeks after we received the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, IWC has announced yet another collaborative effort with the German racing outfit – more specifically, with team principal and co-owner Toto Wolff.

Revealed overnight, the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff x Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula Oneâ„¢ Team isn’t just a mouthful – it’s got serious wrist presence too (and it’s limited to just 100 pieces). The watch follows up the GPHG-nominated Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL ref. IW357201 that debuted back in 2021, noted for its ability to withstand 30,000 g-forces.
At the heart of this watch is the patented SPRIN-g PROTECT® shock absorber system, which leverages a cantilever bulk metallic glass spring that cushions the movement within to ensure continual timekeeping accuracy. This iteration takes the same extraordinarily shock-resistant design and applies a fresh colour scheme inspired by the team’s black and Petronas green colour scheme; along with luminous green paint that makes the time readable in any lighting conditions.

The case measures a solid 44mm in diameter and 12.6mm in thickness, but much of this size is minimised thanks to the lightweight and scratch resistant Ceratanium case material. The sapphire crystal caseback features the signature of Toto Wolff himself, and helps guarantee up to 100m of water resistance.
While the SPRIN-g PROTECT® shock absorber system is the standout piece of technology, what it’s protecting is the very in-house 32101 calibre that powers the watch; itself boasting 120 hours of power reserve and comprising 154 components. Paired with a comfortable Petronas green rubber strap, and you’ve got a marvel of microengineering on your wrist.

This collaboration between IWC and Toto Wolff (with Mercedes) is now available from the brand’s boutiques for $151,000 domestically.
