  • The recently announced IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team is the third collaboration between the eponymous Swiss watchmaker and F1 team.
  • Using IWC’s Mark XX as a canvas, this special edition is presented in titanium and features the same “Petronas green” livery deployed in the previous edition.
  • This latest IWC x Mercedes-AMG team-up is available from brand boutiques, priced at $9,800.

There have been plenty of collaborations between watchmakers and Formula 1 teams over the years, but the partnership between IWC and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One has yielded some of the best designs bar none.

For the third collaborative timepiece between the watchmaker and Formula 1 team, the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One is arguably the best of the bunch: poised, in our minds, to be the ultimate daily wearer.

The previous collaboration between the Swiss and British manufacturers was the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team”, launched to celebrate the first-ever Miami Grand Prix. In line with that edition, this latest link-up adopts the same “Petronas green” colour scheme, but this time selects the iconic Mark XX pilot’s watch as a canvas.

IWC Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas

Smaller on the wrist, more affordable, and arguably the perfect daily driver for any Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team fan; it features a 40mm case crafted in titanium, which measures a relatively slim 10.6mm from front to back.

The clean black dial looks a treat in contrast with the on-theme green hour markers and hands. A matching green strap completes the look.

A screw-down crown and solid caseback give the watch 100 metres of guaranteed water resistance; and the latter features an engraving that nods to the F1 partnership. Beneath the caseback, you’ll find IWC’s in-house calibre 32111, which comprises 163 components and boasts an extremely generous 120-hour power resevre.

Admittedly, the colour is eye-catching, but its sparse pilot’s watch aesthetic makes the overall package one of the least ostentatious timepieces to ever come out of a watch brand/F1 team-up.

Without logos on the dial or other over-the-top automotive design references, it’s certainly our favourite watch released from the partnership so far.

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One is currently available from IWC boutiques.
