An honest homage to the original Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, circa 1931, comes a new Reverso Tribute Small Seconds with a stainless steel case and a cracking Burgundy dial.

Not exactly a conventional watch colour, the burgundy face and leather band add an eccentric layer of class to JLC’s already impressive SIHH 2019. The 1931 Reverso was originally produced for Polo players who wanted to protect their wristwatch against the general wear and tear that riding around on horseback usually entails.

So why the name ‘Reverso’? Well, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Burgundy Reverso can be flipped to become a simple yet meaningful piece of wrist-worn jewellery, with a reverse side that can be customised, by hand, with whatever the buyer desires. With a length of 45.6 mm and a width of 27.4 mm, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Burgundy Reverso straddles most men’s with understated ease.

The Burgundy dial includes a seconds dial at 6 o’clock as well as a tiled border that further adds to the pleasant white/silver accents of the watch. The blood-red leather strap is courtesy of the Argentinian Casa Fagliano, a polo and saddlery company that often collaborates with JLC on many of their watches.

Along with manual-wound calibre 822/2 mechanics that houses 19 jewels and 45 hours of power reserve, these perks come to roughly $11,100 AUD.
