Montblanc might be a name you associate with world-class writing instruments. However, the brand’s watchmaking credentials are once again front and centre in 2025, with an exciting lineup of new releases.
Covering the two pillars that Montblanc has been developing for the last few years – rough-and-ready adventure watches versus the artisanal pieces of the Minerva manufacture – this collection has plenty to get excited about.
From the 0 Oxygen technology Montblanc is debuting across more watches this year to an all-new in-house Minerva movement with an annual calendar complication, the brand’s new releases in 2025 look set to take wearers from a mountain summit to a suit-filled boardroom.
Highlights From The 2025 Montblanc Collection
Montblanc 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Mount Vinson Limited Edition
For everyone who loved the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen CARBO2 revealed at Watches & Wonders 2024, the brand returns with this further refined expression of the 1858 Geosphere that boasts a couple of key innovations. Created in collaboration with the renowned mountaineer and brand ambassador Reinhold Messner, this new reference pays tribute to Messner’s summiting of Antarctica’s Mount Vinson, the ‘final boss’ of his Seven Summits Challenge.
If you’re not familiar, the Seven Summits Challenge involves climbing the tallest peaks on the world’s seven continents, a feat only around 500 people have achieved since the first successful attempt in the 1950s. This final mountain receives a design nod – echoing the outline of the famous Mont Blanc mountain from last year’s 1858 Geosphere – with the luminescent outline of Mount Vinson set into the side of the case.
The titanium case measures 43.5mm in diameter and features a mid-case crafted from a composite comprising of aluminized basalt fibres, quartz fibres, calcium carbonate, and light blue resin that matches the anodised aluminium bezel and was inspired by the glacial ice of Antarctica. As its name suggests, this watch also arrives with Montblanc’s “Zero Oxygen” treatment that removes any oxygen from within the watch: designed to eliminate dial fogging and improve the movement’s lifespan by reducing chances of oxidization.
The Montblanc 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Mount Vinson Limited Edition is water resistant to 100m and powered by Montblanc’s automatic Calibre MB 29.25, which features a 42-hour power reserve. It arrives as a limited edition of 986 pieces.
Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Annual Calendar Limited Editions
For those who spend more time in a sports coat than a snowsuit, these two Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Annual Calendar Limited Editions are a practical choice for daily wear. Available in either white or lime gold, both limited editions feature cases that measure 42mm in diameter (13.3mm thick), fixed fluted bezels, and silvered dials with a hand-painted Northern Hemisphere turning globe and grand date, all framed by a month ring.
What’s most exciting about these watches, however, is the movement that allows for such information-rich dials. This is all thanks to the manual wind calibre MB M14.58, which is making its debut in 2025, joining the Minerva range of movements and displaying both annual calendar information and a worldtime function, boasting no less than 65 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
In line with previous in-house movements made in Montblanc’s Minerva manufacture, the movement is immaculately finished, boasting rhodium-plated German silver bridges that have been decorated with CĂ´tes de Genève and hand-chamfered edges. Arriving paired with a calf leather strap, the reference in white gold will be a limited edition of 100 pieces, while the lime gold reference will be limited to 30 pieces.
Montblanc Iced Sea Collection
Finally, the Montblanc Iced Sea collection arrives with a new case size of 38mm, the debuting of a distressed steel finish, and the same “Zero Oxygen” treatment as the 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Mount Vinson Limited Edition.
In response to customer demand for a smaller size in the Iced Sea collection, the new 38mm references are perfect for those who enjoy vintage-inspired proportions in the context of a modern diver. Two versions are available: a white dial with a matching rubber strap and an icy blue dial paired with a steel bracelet.
The model with the distressed steel case evokes the appearance of a black-coated adventuring timepiece, and features a 41mm case size, equipped with a comfortable black rubber strap. All new models within the Iced Sea collection will arrive sans oxygen inside, and Montblanc is also offering the same upgrade to previously purchased Iced Sea watches, with the brand encouraging customers to visit their nearest service centre in order to get the “Zero Oxygen” treatment.
Nothing beats a new watch, but now, you can get the next best thing: an upgrade of an existing favourite.
