There’s a good reason that the Tissot PRX collection has been so popular, winning fans with everyone from the NBA championship-winning superstar Klay Thompson to relative newbies looking for their first good watch (and that’s aside from giving Vacheron 222 vibes). With a strong design and approachable price point, a new reference joins the unendingly popular line-up as a Tissot PRX bringing subtle colour to the table thanks to its ice-blue dial that won’t break the bank.

As a collection that draws inspiration from the creative golden years of the 1970s, the angular, almost aggressive case profile is immediately eye-catching, met by an integrated steel bracelet with the same brushed finish as the rest of the surfaces of the watch. This ice blue version features the same 40mm steel case (which is 10.9mm thick) as the rest of the mechanical movement-powered arm of the collection, while the grid-like texture of the dial plays with the light nicely, potentially adding some understated panache to an outfit.

There really isn’t much to dislike about the Tissot PRX range, especially in this new dial colour. It’s powered by a reliable and easily serviced automatic movement with a very impressive 80 hours of power reserve (not a like-for-like comparison, but that’s 10 hours longer than the new Rolex Submariner), sapphire crystal over the dial and caseback, as well as 100m of water resistance. With an Australian RRP of $1,100, there aren’t many Swiss-made watches that come close to a spec sheet as good as this.
