Prior to his untimely and unfortunate passing over a year ago, Anthony Bourdain had a few exciting projects in the works. One of which included a travel book entitled World Travel: An Irreverent Guide, written in collaboration between himself and his trusted assistant for nearly a decade — Laurie Woolever.

Fans of the once-in-a-generation personality and culinary sage can expect his signature combination of unfiltered insights as well as practical advice. Insights regarding why certain destinations were his favourites, and practical advice on “how to get there, what to eat, where to stay and, in some cases, what to avoid.”

This will take the form of multiple personal essays, supplemental travel recommendations and tributes of sorts from Bourdain’s own inner circle – family, friends, colleagues – even hand-drawn cartoons to preface each chapter by cartoonist, Tony Millionaire.

Throughout his storied and singular lifetime, Bourdain went through about 12 passports, ventured forth to an estimated 100 countries, and spent approximately 250/365 days of the year on the road documenting the world for CNN.

In terms of less tangible numbers, the man reached countless people internationally and inspired a resurgence in the movement behind taking roads less travelled. To quote Bourdain himself:

World Travel: An Irreverent Guide is scheduled for wide release on October 13th.
