If you’re looking to experience the mountain wilderness of Colorado with a few brews then look no further than the newly organised Durango Brew Train. After organising just one trip last year, beer lovers the world over were craving more, so operators Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad decided to expand their offerings and schedule nine journeys for this coming North American summer.
Hopping onboard a 1920s diesel powered locomotive, the tour leaves from Rockwood Station and makes its way through the winding mountains before reaching Cascade Canyon deep in the wilderness of the San Juan National Forest. Here, the train stops for 90 minutes where lunch is served and you can experience live music and listen to each brewery discuss their company’s history and brewing process, all the while knocking back a few cold ones.
While onboard the train, various local brewers will walk up and down the carriages with a range of beers for you to try. Although the lineup of brewers hasn’t been announced just yet, last year saw the likes of Steamworks Brewing, Ska Brewing, Animas Brewing, Carvers Brewing, Four Peaks Brewing and Left Hand Brewing all involved.
This year’s summer series takes place between June and August, with tickets setting you back $194 for this once in a lifetime experience.
You can book tickets at durango train.
