For a limited time, Virgin Australia is making every economy seat on every domestic flight available for the lowest number of Velocity Points. Effectively, five million Velocity Reward Seats are now on the market without any blackout days – not even Christmas Eve.
Virgin Australia’s domestic Velocity Points Reward Seat redemptions have been broken into several distance-based zones. While short commutes like SYD-MEL and SYD-BNE require only 7,800 points (plus taxes), a flight between Melbourne and Queensland’s Gold Coast will set you back a total of 11,800 points (plus taxes).
The offer will allow Velocity members to make the most of their current points transfer promotion, which currently sees the conversion of your credit card’s own rewards points into Velocity Points; and can net you an additional 20-30% worth of points, depending on what card you’re using. On top of this, Reward Seat bookings earn you another 5-10 status credits per flight as part of an ongoing loyalty promotion.

The offer is headlined by ANZ cards – which racks up 30% more Velocity Points – while transfers from Amex will score you a 25% bonus. Other cards will scrape you 20% extra Velocity Points.
“This is a Reward Seat frenzy at a scale not seen in our history and our biggest ever Velocity consumer promotion,” says Nick Rohrlach, CEO of Velocity Frequent Flyer.Â
