Leaning into its historic reputation for decadent Champagne luncheons and some of the highest profile wine auctions in the country, Langton’s is publicly offering up space for its 2023 ‘Burgundy Tour’ until 15 February – a no-expense-spared jaunt through the châteaux and hillsides of France’s most pricey wine region, setting oenophiles back a cool $26,000 per head.
An all-inclusive, week-long itinerary that will see guests begin their Bacchanalian odyssey in Dijon (international flights notwithstanding), the 2023 Burgundy Tour “[takes] advantage of Langton’s relationships”, in order to offer guests an unfettered amount of access to producers and cellar doors otherwise closed off to members of the public.

Jesper Kjærsgaard, Langton’s Head of International Wine, is the chief architect of this initiative: responsible for bringing iconic producers like Domaine Prieuré-Roch and Henri Magnien into the eponymous auction house’s fold.
Along with Kjærsgaard (who will be playing tour guide for the duration of the trip) guests will be treated to multiple meals at the table of Guillaume Brahimi – one of Australia’s foremost exponents of French cuisine, best known for his award-winning namesake bistro in Melbourne and tenure at Bennelong in the early 2000s.
For the duration of the tour – the highlight of which must surely be a Michelin-starred degustation amid the cloisters of the 12th century Abbaye de la Bussière – guests will be accommodated at their own private residence – the centuries-old, riverside Château de Barbirey.
Designated a “remarkable garden” by France’s Ministry of Culture in 2004, the estate offers a range of landscaped and naturally occurring environs that should prove suitably beatific – especially for those in need of a reprieve from so much world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Aside from the various “private entries” to wine-producing domaines dotted across Burgundy, Langton’s have teed up a bunch of ancillary activities for guests to partake in during their week-long sojourn. These include the opportunity to explore a number of restaurants/bistros in the immediate vicinity of the Côte-d’Or; or lean on Chef Guillaume’s expertise – in picking market produce, designing the ultimate pairing menu and cooking at home.
