One of the most common complaints surrounding Airbnb in the post-COVID era is that you’re essentially paying hotel rates while receiving far less service and shouldering the responsibilities of a housekeeper prior to checkout. But no longer.
Starting in early 2023, hosts will be provided guidance to keep those checkout requests minimal. Said requests will also have to be displayed prior to booking, so you can decide whether it’s worth the pain before committing.

“Guests should not have to do unreasonable checkout tasks such as stripping the beds, doing the laundry, or vacuuming when leaving their Airbnb,” the company stated.
“But we think it’s reasonable to ask guests to turn off the lights, throw food in the trash, and lock the doors – just like they would when leaving their own home.”
Additionally, Airbnb is set to roll out the option to display total prices in countries without existing price display requirements. This means you’ll see a complete breakdown of all fees before taxes in the search results, map, filter, and of course, the platform’s listing page.

“Before confirming their booking, guests can still view a full price breakdown that shows Airbnb’s service fee, discounts, and taxes.”
“We are prioritising total price (instead of nightly price) in our search ranking algorithm. For similar listings in the same area, those with the highest quality and best total prices will rank higher in search results.”
Now all that’s left is to reverse the global party ban.
