Home to white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, and some of the best hotels in the Philippines (if not the world), Boracay is the jewel in the crown of the Calamian Islands that’s been meticulously established as a haven for those seeking relaxation and exploration.

Beyond the five-star resorts and hotels, Boracay boasts dozens of excellent bars and restaurants and countless daytime activities including sailing, kayaking, diving, and snorkelling. There’s also a great nightlife scene with plenty of beach-facing nightclubs and live music events, ensuring there’s something for everyone regardless of the hour.

Once you’re on the island, you can fill your time with everything from lounging poolside with a book in your hand to relaxing spas and wellness centres, but the main choice you need to make before touching down is where you want to stay. After having spent my Christmas break on Boracay, I’m here to make that decision a little easier by exploring a few of the best hotels on the island to guarantee a trip you’ll never forget.

Shangri-La Boracay Spa & Resort

Best Hotels Boracay

Spanning more than a dozen hectares, the Shangri-La Boracay Spa & Resort offers 219 rooms and suites, including 36 private villas, and enjoys a 350m stretch of pristine beachfront as its focal point.

Arrival at the resort is via Shangri-La’s private speedboat. After being graciously welcomed by staff, you’ll experience modern accommodations that are unmistakably Filipino thanks to design details that include Abaca weave rugs and capiz shell lighting. The resort offers activities such as tennis, kayaking, parasailing, and deep-sea diving, complimented by the Chi Spa overlooking a private bay, three restaurants, and a cafe.

If you’re looking for a truly luxurious experience, with every detail considered and catered for, Shangri-La Boracay Spa & Resort must be a hotel you seriously consider booking.

Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay

Upon arrival at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay, it’s hard to get a true impression of its scale, with the hotel cascading down the hillside right to the softly lapping waters of a secluded beach.

With 312 contemporary hotel rooms and suites, it’s not the kind of boutique hotel you might find in a capital city, but with four restaurants, three bars, a gym, a spa, and much more, there’s plenty of space to get lost in the world-class facilities on offer. It’s another of the very best hotels that Boracay has to offer, designed for everyone, including families thanks to its kid’s club and playground area.

Discovery Shore Boracay

Best Hotels Boracay

Located on the shores at Station 1 of White Beach, Discovery Shore Boracay is a multi-award-winning resort that’s more intimate than many of the other best hotels on the island, with impeccable service to match.

All counted, Discovery Shore Boracay offers 99 rooms and suites with six different options depending on the size of your group, with the most premium being the 252-square-meter Grand Signature Suite which can sleep six and enjoys its own private balcony and plunge pool. As far as dining and drinking, you never need to leave the resort, with three restaurants, two bars, and a lounge, while guests are also invited to enjoy the Terra Wellness Spa, library, and gym.

If you’re dreaming of a tropical island getaway that gets all the details right, Discovery Shore Boracay will deliver in spades.

Henann Crystal Sands Resort Boracay

The Henann brand is one of the strongest presences on Boracay with seven different hotels to experience, but the Henann Crystal Sands Resort Boracay is known to be the best of the bunch. Comprising 188 rooms it’s also one of the smallest Henann hotels on the island, offering three swimming pools if you want a break from the beach, a gym, a restaurant, and a bar.

As a part of a larger hotel group, this four-star establishment doesn’t have the same intimate boutique feel as smaller independent resorts. However, if you’re seeking something that ticks all the right boxes for an approachable price, this is one of the best hotels on Boracay.

Fairways & Bluewater Resort

For the golfers out there, Fairways & Bluewater Resort will likely be your favourite option on this list as an 80-hectare eco-friendly resort, the centrepiece of which is an 18-hole championship golf course. Covering 6,524 yards, the course facilities also include a pro shop where you can hire clubs, tee houses, and most importantly — beverage carts.

If golfing isn’t your thing, the resort is stacked with other activities including a 650m-long zipline and horseback riding, as well as kayaking, parasailing, and jet-skiing from the resort’s private beach. It’s got you covered no matter how you want to spend your time in the tropics and while the rooms aren’t likely to be the most luxurious you’ve ever stayed in, they’re very affordable when you consider what else is on offer.

There are ten different room and suite options to choose from (including three with private plunge pools) and as far as dining, every hour of the day is covered with a floating breakfast, a beach club, a Latin American-style grill restaurant, and a cafe. If lounging by the pool sounds a little sedentary, Crimson Resort & Spa Boracay also offers kayaking, a speedboat island cruise, paddle boarding, beach volleyball, and a gym, as well as a kid’s club and a rejuvenating spa and wellness centre.

Kaaya Resort North Boracay

Best Hotels Boracay

Kaaya Resort North Boracay is one of the few truly boutique offerings on the island, with just 48 suites including the 155-square-meter penthouse that comes complete with a private balcony and jacuzzi.

It’s a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the main beach, located in a marine life sanctuary of Ilig-Iligan Beach at Station N, North of Boracay, making it a dream destination for anyone interested in snorkelling and scuba diving. The resort also offers a breathtakingly beautiful infinity pool for all guests to use, while dining options are limited to the Kaaya Cafe which serves up a combination of local and international dishes.

It’s not the most affordable hotel in Boracay, but if secluded peace and stunning ocean views are priorities for you, Kaaya Resort North Boracay is well worth considering.
