Not that the Greek Island is particularly lacking when it comes to impressive resorts and even more impressive views, but Cali Mykonos just may be one of the famed destination’s finest in years. Opened this month in the coastal village of Kalafati above its own private beach, Cali Mykonos is a boutique resort just big enough for 40 luxury suites and villas, every single one of which has its own private saltwater pool stretching across a spacious terrace looking out over the Aegean Sea.

It says a lot that a resort in Mykonos can look like a jaw-dropping offering on an island filled with these kinds of resorts. Cali Mykonos arrives to some stiff, well-established competition from popular luxury resorts such as Marriott’s Santa Marina, Alissachni and Cavo Tagoo. But the property seems to present an attractive package that could muscle into the forefront of Mykonos accommodation, realising a project that has been in the works for the past six years.

Michelin-starred chef Lefteris Lazarou has come on board to help the resort shape up its culinary offering, while other features offered to guests include private yacht and helicopter charters to nearby islands, a comprehensive wellness program curated by Athens-based fitness studio Athlesis, in-room spa treatments and a public 423-foot saltwater infinity pool adjacent to a sushi bar.

Given the relatively tight amount of accommodation offerings, each of the guest rooms offer an absurdly generous amount of living space, the smallest of which is 540 square feet and the largest of which is 2,150 square feet. The latter would be the three-level Cali Villa, positioned at the peak of the property with five bedrooms, all of which have their own pool, a private elevator and wraparound terraces to really maximise those Mykonos sunsets.

Giving guests access to a range of luxury transport seems to be one of the big sticking points for Cali Mykonos. As above, the resort has its own fleet of yachts that guests can use to sail around the neighbouring Greek Islands, and there’s also a helipad in case guests want to take the chopper instead. Luxury cars can be arranged in case anyone wants to zip around on the roads instead. As for getting there – Mykonos airport is an easy 15-minute drive from the resort, so convenience is pretty much caked-in.

Room rates at Cali Mykonos start from around $1,314 per night.
