Located less than a 10-hour flight from most of Australia’s eastern seaboard, it’s no surprise Bangkok has been such a popular regional destination among holidaymakers for so many decades.

The capital of the ‘Land of Smiles’ is renowned for a range of cheap and cheerful experiences on the dining, culture, and shopping front. In fact, even Bangkok’s wide assortment of luxury hotels continues to offer impressive value for money in 2025.

This, despite the fact that the city is home to what are (indisputably) some of the most critically lauded accommodations on the planet. From a ‘World’s 50 Best’ champion to teak-covered urban oases, uncover our shortlist of the best Bangkok hotels below.

Rosewood Bangkok

Rosewood Bangkok
Address: 1041/38 Ploenchit Road, Lumpini, Pathumwan, Bangkok, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 080 0088
Price: From ~$600 per night

Located within a building mirroring the shape of human hands clasped into a wai (the traditional Thai gesture of greeting), Rosewood Bangkok makes an immediate impression on guests even before they step out of the car.

The Hong Kong hotel label’s flagship property in the Thai capital balances intimate service with grandiose scale: spread across 158 rooms, 4 bars & restaurants and an award-winning spa.

For guests looking to make a real splash, in the heart of downtown Bangkok, Rosewood offers three exclusive ‘House’ concepts. (Think presidential suites on steroids, each boasting its own private terrace and outdoor plunge pool.)

The Peninsula Bangkok

bangkok hotels
Address: 333 Charoen Nakhon Road, Khlong San, Bangkok, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 020 2888
Pricing: From ~$640 per night

A favourite of corporate raiders and old-school jetsetters across the region, The Peninsula Bangkok combines the storied brand’s Anglo-Asian glamour with a healthy dose of local Thai hospitality.

Teak flooring and Southeast Asian textiles co-mingle with all the modcons that the 21st century traveller could want. Fun fact: there are no more than 10 rooms on any single floor of the property, which goes some way to explaining why even the entry-level digs come with their own foyer and walk-in wardrobe.

There are no less than half a dozen bars & restaurants to explore on-site (our favourite being the incredibly clubby four-top inside the kitchen at Chinese restaurant, Mei Jiang).

In between all your gourmet adventures, be sure to clock some quality time at the pool: sprawled out across three tiers, with front-row views of Thailand’s historic Chao Phraya River, it’s widely hailed as the best hotel pool in Bangkok. And for good reason.

Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

best Bangkok hotels
Address: 48 Oriental Avenue, Bangkok, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 659 9000
Pricing: From ~$800 per night (approx.)

The hotel that lends the Mandarin Oriental group the latter half of its name, MO Bangkok is a historic part of the city’s skyline – situated since 1876 in the venerable, riverfront neighbourhood of Bang Rak.

Like its sister flagship in Hong Kong, the magic of Mandarin Oriental Bangkok lies in its knack for constant – not to mention effortless – reinvention. Over the past century, the hotel has diligently added to its arsenal of bars, restaurants, and wellness experiences. Now with nearly a dozen F&B venues to choose from, we’re especially keen on The Bamboo Bar: a haven of nightly jazz and masterfully made cocktails.

For hospo historians, a stay in one of the hotel’s 101sqm Authors’ Suites is strongly recommended. Housed in the ‘River Wing’ of the original property, these rooms pay tribute to various seminal literary figures – such as Noël Coward or Gore Vidal – through colour scheme and a range of custom decorations. With floor-to-ceiling windows and a private waterfront balcony, you too can enjoy the ultimate setting in which to write the great generational novel.

Capella Bangkok (Best Splurge)

Bangkok luxury hotels
Address: 300/2 Chanroenkrung Road, Yannawa, Sathorn, Bangkok, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 098 3888
Pricing: From ~$1,350 per night

Now officially heavyweight champ on the ‘World’s 50 Best’ hotels list, Capella Bangkok brings the eponymous Singapore hotelier’s famously hushed brand of ultra-luxury to Thailand – in the guise of a sleek, 110-room bolthole nestled along a quiet stretch of the Chao Phraya River.

As with Capella’s OG property on Sentosa, the stars of the show are 7 ground floor villas with riverfront panoramas. Each comes equipped with a sunbed, private jacuzzi and outrageously sized bathrooms – meaning you seldom have to sacrifice privacy and venture out of doors.

Still, a quick reccy around the hotel is strongly encouraged. Local wellness connoisseurs continue to rave about the Thai-Chinese therapies at Auriga Spa; and if you’re in the mood for a splashy break from street food, Mirazur’s Mauro Colagreco has set up shop at Cȏte – the hotel’s gem of a dining room, specialising in classic dishes of the Italian and French Riviera.

Be sure to consult one of the hotel’s signature ‘Culturists’: local experts who can help to craft a best-in-class itinerary, whether you’re interested in experiencing iconic Bangkok landmarks or Buddhist art at a nearby local temple.

Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort

bangkok hotels
Address: 257/1-3 Charoennakorn Road, Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 476 0022
Pricing: From ~$350 per night

A fan favourite among the Tripadvisor crowd and well-heeled families, Anantara Riverside is located on the western banks of the Chao Phraya. Set amid a palatial 11-acre estate, the hotel’s lush setting and relaxing ambience put it firmly in ‘urban oasis’ territory.

Of all the Bangkok hotels to crack our shortlist, Anantara offers one of the best value propositions, with 281 comfortably appointed guestrooms to choose from – all anchored around the property’s huge, resort-style pool. Suites with executive lounge access, meanwhile, start at around $600.

As one of the star properties in local hospitality group Minor Hotels’ portfolio, Anantara has much to recommend it if you’re a culturally curious traveller.

The hotel’s staff of (aptly named) gurus will take you on city tours that go well beyond popular attractions like Wat Arun or Chatuchak Market – you can even charter a private pleasure cruise down the Chao Phraya River, via the hotel’s luxury barge partner Loy Pela.

Four Seasons Bangkok At Chao Phraya River

Address: 300/1 Charoen Krung Road, Bangkok, Sathorn, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 032 0888
Pricing: From ~$800 per night

A hotel nearly 10 years in the making, Four Seasons at Chao Phraya is our preferred pick for those luxury travellers who have already seen and explored Bangkok’s sights on numerous occasions.

Much like Capella, this property exerts a magnetic force on its guests; with six eateries, guestrooms of airy residential proportions, and a multitiered swimming pool to rival what you’ll find at Four Seasons’ outpost in Koh Samui (incidentally, the primary setting of The White Lotus’s newest season). Suffice to say, whiling away your entire stay on-site is very much an option.

Even if you’re not an in-house guest, it’s worth making the trip downtown (the hotel is located in the busy high-rise district of Sathon) for a couple of tipples at BKK Social Club. A fixture of both the ‘World’s 50’ and ‘Asia’s 50’ Best lists, the venue is overseen by charismatic barman-in-chief Philip Bischoff.

The Manhattan Singapore veteran has reimagined BKK Social Club’s cavalcade of gardens and courtyards in the style of ‘70s Buenos Aires – favouring premium Argentinian spirits and an entire section of the menu dedicated to house-bottled cocktails.

Park Hyatt Bangkok (Best For Families)

bangkok hotels
Address: Central Embassy, 88 Wireless Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok, Bangkok Metropolitan, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 012 1234
Pricing: From ~$500 per night

Pretty much the summit of reliable big-brand luxury, the Park Hyatt Bangkok brings a similar aesthetic sensibility to the Thai capital as what you’ll find in the brand’s other Southeast Asian properties. That of course, is very much by design.

The guestrooms and communal areas have all been executed by North American design firm Yabu Pushelberg. (Hence, the embrace of neutral tones and strikingly clean lines.) There are the obligatory nods to Thai culture – communicated in screens, lighting and textured headboards – but for the most part, the emphasis is on cultivating a serene and spacious setting for your stay.

Guests thinking of eating in can hit three proverbial birds with one stone, by visiting the Penthouse Bar + Grill. Spread across multiple floors, this trio of dining experiences includes a Manhattan-inspired steakhouse, lofty rooftop bar and (in good news for whisky lovers) Thailand’s first “multisensory” Johnnie Walker retail space.

The Standard

bangkok hotels
Address: 114 Narathiwas Road, Silom, Bangrak, Bangkok, Thailand
Contact: +66 2 085 8888
Pricing: From ~$420 per night

Tucked away inside the distinctive, Tetris-esque King Power skyscraper, this hotel is one of two Standard-branded branches in Bangkok – delivering the American’s brand signature blend of elevated style and block party energy.

The property’s 155-room stable offers a stark contrast to the textbook look of most Bangkok hotels: devoid of teakwood or trad Thai architectural motifs. Instead, expect clean and cheerily coloured guestrooms: equipped with terrazzo-clad soaking tubs, Bang & Olufsen speakers and designer furniture that will delight fans of early-Danish-modern.

Delight in light poolside bites, alongside panoramic views of Bangkok’s buzzy Silom and Bangrak neighbourhoods. Or, nail down a booking at one of The Standard’s various Chinese, Mexican, and grillroom-inspired dining concepts.

The only non-negotiable? A visit to Sky Beach: the world’s third highest cocktail bar, perched atop the property’s 78th floor.

The Sukhothai Bangkok (Best Value)

Address: 13/3 South Sathorn Road, Thungmahamek, Sathorn, Bangkok, Thailand
Contact: +66 0 2344 8888
Pricing: From ~$480 per night (approx.)

Set in the historic heart of Bangkok in the district of Sathorn, The Sukhothai is unlike your average downtown luxury hotel in just about every way.

For starters, it occupies an immaculately landscaped 6-acre estate: dappled with gardens, lotus ponds, and an expertly camouflaged 25-metre pool at the hotel’s centre. Named as it is for Thailand’s ancient 12th century capital, The Sukhothai’s rooms bring a range of classic design details to life: including silky fabrics, teakwood paneling and traditional masonry.

Authentic renditions of Thai and Italian cuisine are the major attraction for guests dining in-house, but if you happen to be staying in The Sukhothai’s (newly refurbished) club wing you’ll also get complimentary access to a dedicated lounge and cocktail bar.

With overnight rates starting at just under $500, pushing the boat out is most definitely doable.
