The latest bespoke Airbnb experience arrives down under with a stay in the Gold Coast’s Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club, complete with a surfing lesson from the legend Mick Fanning.
The Gold Coast stay arrives to kick off the partnership between Airbnb and Surf Life Saving Australia, which aims to promote water safety across all 12,000 Australian beaches this summer. Fanning is all too familiar with the potential hazards of the ocean, as a man who survived a brush with death after a close encounter with a shark off the coast of South Africa.
“I am really excited to host guests on the beautiful Gold Coast and near the surf break where my passion for surfing started and then became my career,” Fanning said in a statement. “As an Airbnb host and to mark this important work with Surf Life Saving, I hope to encourage people to enjoy our beaches and waterways safely and to complete the online training now available from Surf Life Saving Australia.”
The lucky ones to book the three-night stay will enjoy a long weekend in the loft above the Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club, which has room to accommodate four people and enjoys a spectacular view over the waters below. They’ll also get a sunset BBQ, a surfing session with Fanning, and a trip to Mick’s favourite nearby Rip Curl store for a surf shopping spree.
