- The Ennismore hospitality group is finally opening a Mondrian Hotel in Australia, specifically on the Gold Coast’s iconic Burleigh Heads beachfront.
- The 24-level property contains 208 rooms – 132 studios, 76 suites, plus two/three-bedroom Beach Houses, and the hotel-crowning “Sky House” – with a café, restaurant, wellness space, and more.
- Designed by Australian architects Fraser & Partners alongside the interiors team at Studio Carter, the Mondrian Hotel Gold Coast officially debuts in June 2025.
To say the team behind the Los Angeles-born Mondrian Hotel brand has been busy in recent years would be an understatement.
For context, the group opened four new properties in 2023 and another two last year. And they don’t exactly have plans to slow down, pledging eight more in 2025 and beyond – including Australia’s inaugural Mondrian property, located on the Gold Coast, which was originally slated for a 2023 launch.
Joining a stellar list of outposts that already includes Ibiza, Cannes, and Mexico City Condesa, the Gold Coast edition of the Mondrian Hotel will soon be another jewel to the city’s trove of luxury accommodation.
The 24-level property designed by Fraser & Partners will contain a total of 208 studios, suites, and homes, including what promises to be a glorious “Sky House” penthouse; along with a smattering of two and three-bedroom residences.
In addition to private spaces, the Mondrian Hotel Gold Coast is also arriving with two restaurants & bars. These eateries specialise in everything from “coastal Italian cuisine and surf-to-plate seafood to classic bites.” The other star attractions will be its state-of-the-art spa, offering the full suite of wellness & beauty treatments (“performance-based restorative therapies, touchless technology, magnesium plunge pools”); and the almost obligatory pool club.
“Australia has long been a strategic focus for Mondrian’s growth and the Gold Coast was a focal point thanks to its phenomenal natural setting, rich cultural landscape and vibrant social scene,” said Chadi Farhat, COO of Mondrian Hotels & Residences Brand.
“It felt a natural choice to bring Mondrian to the Gold Coast and we believe it will resonate strongly with the local market and lend something entirely new to the hospitality space.”
Suffice it to say, Australia’s first Mondrian Hotel is shaping up to be a must-visit destination in 2025.
