Malibu’s most exclusive wellness hotel, Nobu Ryokan, is often seen as the West Coast’s foremost symbol of modern luxury. Recently it was reported that Kanye West is actually living at the property with his wife Bianca Censori and various A-listers have been known to duck in and out of the 16-room hotel.
Its reputation is not up for question, and it seems that’s only going to get stronger now that Nobu Ryokan has partnered with Beverly Hills Car Rental, the owner of America’s largest fleet of luxury cars, so guests can cruise the coast in all sorts of high-end whips from Rolls-Royce Ghosts to Lamborghini Huracans.
If you look hard enough, you might see a bit of a trend emerging where luxury hotels are increasingly looking for ways to put guests behind the wheels of some of the world’s slickest luxury cars. We already saw the Four Seasons brand start to curate its own driving experiences for guests in places like Tuscany and Napa Valley, now it seems the Nobu brand is using its nascent Ryokan spin-off concept to do something similar.
Yet, it seems the resort’s Cruise the Coast program won’t come with any curated itineraries. Guests will simply have access to a menu of luxury cars where prices start at US$359 (AU$531) per day for a Range Rover Sport and reach up to US$2,399 (AU$3,550) per day for a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Drivers, like all guests, also get priority booking at the nearby Nobu Malibu, where the waitlist is often too stacked for most people to bother.
Of course, you’ve also got the perk of staying at the resort itself. Nobu Ryokan Malibu opened in 2017 with each room and suite featuring a soft blend of traditional Japanese design sketched onto the pacific coastline. Oceanview rooms are the pinnacle offering here, with wraparound balconies and outdoor soaking tubs looking over the infinite of the Pacific Ocean.
