While Singapore’s long-standing Grand Hyatt is set to completely transform 25 years on Scotts Road, the city-state isn’t just relying on its grand dames. Next year is going to be a busy 12 months of new openings for the Lion City, one of the most exciting being the fascinating Pan Pacific Orchard, which opens in May 2023 with a very interesting biophilic design reiterating the city’s love of blending greenery and sustainability with futurism.
Obviously located along the beating heart of the city’s shopping district, Orchard Road, the second Singapore hotel from Pan Pacific Hotels Group has been constructed in an eye-catching Jenga-like design with 23 storeys and four themed open-air towering terraces – Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud – bursting with greenery.
It all looks appropriately forward-thinking, an intentional design by WOHA Architects who have played with more than 7,300 square metres of foilage covering more than 200% of the hotel’s footprint. This includes a Forest Terrace wrapped in said foilage, snaking next to cascading water features in the lobby and shooting up with a 120-metre tall green column spanning the first three storeys.

The BCA Green Mark Platinum-certified hotel, anchored by its sustainability concept, will bring 350 rooms and suites to the table along with the standard amenities for a luxury hotel.
Climbing further up the building is the Beach Terrace with an outdoor sand-edged pool and bar spread across the fifth floor with a mirrored ceiling. Featured here are ten Beach Club Lofts peppered around the pool, each with a private outdoor balcony.
Two other open-air terraces will make up the hotel’s common spaces, positioned further up Pan Pacific Orchard. The Garden Terrace is spread from levels 11 to 16 with a two-floor restaurant and an indoor-outdoor Pacific Club Lounge. The highest is the Cloud Terrace on floors 18 to 23, which sports a pillarless ballroom on the 18th floor, and while it’s not confirmed we imagine some kind of rooftop bar will be found up here too.
Aside from the Beach Club Lofts, the remaining 340 rooms are yet to be revealed but it’s likely the higher-category ones will be themed on each of the terraces.
