Taking a page from its sister property atop Hong Kongโ€™s ICC, when The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne opens its gilded doors in early 2023, itโ€™ll do so high above the ruckus of the cityโ€™s most famous thoroughfare.

Guests will alight the premises, spread out across 17 floors of the multi-tower development at 650 Lonsdale Street, in ultra-high-speed lifts โ€“ arriving at a โ€œsky lobbyโ€ boasting unencumbered views of Marvel Stadium, the Yarra River, and various other citywide landmarks.

Itโ€™s a dramatic follow-up from Marriott Internationalโ€™s historic Bostonian hotel brand, which made its debut on Antipodean shores only quite recently with the waterfront bastion that is The Ritz-Carlton, Perth.

In contrast, the brandโ€™s Melbournian debut looks set to capitalise, as part of the billion-dollar West Side Place development, on its proximity to everything the city has to offer: including excellent connectivity to Southern Cross Station, Southbank, and the Melbourne Convention Centre.

In classic Ritz-Carlton fashion, the property shall include its own branch of the titular Ritz-Carlton Club: renowned across the globe for attentive service and multiple daily F&B presentations. Available as an add-on for in-house guests, the club is set across the 79th floor, just below the lobby where all visitors make their entrance.

Specifics about the hotelโ€™s other attractions remain minimal, though it is confirmed that The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne will be getting an infinity pool, wellness facilities, and an exhaustive spa space (equipped with 6 treatment rooms).

On the culinary front, gastronauts can expect two signature dining experiences, including a restaurant and โ€œintimate library-styleโ€ bar. Images suggest that the emphasis will be on finely-executed contemporary fareโ€ฆ hardly a bad thing, given Victoriaโ€™s bounty of seasonal, local produce.
