HBO’s The White Lotus has returned in all its satirical glory for a second season. And if, like us, you barely got past the somewhat creepy opening theme music before searching for The White Lotus‘ season two filming locations, then you’re not alone.
Off the back of its hugely popular Emmy-winning debut season in Hawaii – which was filmed at the beautiful Four Seasons Maui – showrunners opted to approach round two with a different lens. The result? A charming, old-world twist on the “Paradise, but not what it seems” motif filmed on the Italian island of Sicily.
Despite the raucous on-screen drama, the powers that be at the Four Seasons hotel chain must have welcomed the publicity, because season 2 saw the fictional resort set up production earlier this year at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily.

The palatial hotel in the shadow of Mount Etna was first built in the 14th century as a convent on a rocky promontory, but it wasn’t until 1896 that it was renovated into a luxury hotel. Since then, the hotel has served famous guests like Oscar Wilde, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn and is one of the most luxurious properties in Sicily.
There are five guest room tiers, five suite tiers, and five “pricing upon request” specialty suites. Before you get too excited about a ’23 summer jaunt, brace yourself for the small fortune it’ll cost you to stay at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace. The bottom end of the scale – the Superior Room – will still sting you for well over AU$1,600 per night. Though regardless of the digs, once through the door all guests will enjoy some of the island’s most premium spa facilities, a clifftop infinity pool, and award-winning dining.
The White Lotus season 2 is currently airing in Australia on Binge, and you can explore more of the Four Seasons San Domenic Palace at the link below.
