Debuting last year but only now starting to pick up steam, SYD X is the new 2,700-square-metre luxury retail precinct set to change the way Sydney Airport’s T1 International terminal functions as the hub makes some major changes moving forward. The expanded offering is now being touted as Australia’s largest collection of luxury brands under one roof, putting it on par with some of the more lavish tax-free airport precincts around the world, and spurring a reimagined Heinemann Tax & Duty Free store.
20 of the world’s most coveted luxury brands now have a big presence at T1, a collection that includes Tiffany & Co.’s latest boutique alongside Celine, Dior, Gucci, Balenciaga, Moncler and Bvlgari. You’d also find brands like Chloe, Kenzo and Lanvin at Heinemann Tax & Duty Free as part of the store’s expanded beauty, fashion and accessories range.
And, as with almost all precincts like this, there will be a few Airport exclusives available at these boutiques so keen shoppers can pick up some heaters before they fly out. That is, for those who actually do their shopping while waiting for their ride to take flight.

SYD X has been distinguished from the rest of T1 International Terminal thanks to a double-sided streetscape, worked up in an elliptical design to better align the boutiques in one spot. Before this, Sydney Airport’s retail precinct felt rather spread out and confused.
“In 2019, we set out to change the face of luxury at Sydney Airport and I’m delighted to see our vision come together,” said Sydney Airport’s Executive General Manager of Commercial Mark Zaouk.
“Meticulous work has gone into creating a unique luxury shopping destination, from the layout and design of the new precinct to the superior experiences available in each of the luxury stores.”
