More often than not, getting picked up from the airport is a massive drag. It’s late, it’s rainy, the line for a cab extends around the corner, and you’re there with your luggage wanting nothing more than to get the hell out of there. Fortunately, Uber Reserve has just decided to throw flight tracking into the mix, allowing for on-time airport pickups regardless of what time the plane lands.
The service is already available at Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast, and Perth airports. All you have to do is set the booking for your ride within 30 days out and Uber will automatically adjust the reservation time based on flight tracking data. The driver-partner will then be notified of a delay or early arrival and ready out the front for when you land.
”After a couple of challenging summers for Australian travel, we’re excited to help Aussies get back out there this summer, and provide a more seamless door-to-door travel experience with the launch of these new features,” said Margarita Peker, Head of Rider Operations in Australia & New Zealand.

“From the moment you book your outbound flight to the moment you return home, our vision is to become a one-stop shop for every travel need, by integrating that Uber ease and convenience that Aussies know and love.”
Uber has also pre-empted concerns that you will get caught up in complications with baggage arrival. Fear not, as your driver will wait an hour from your arrival – included in your fare – for you to figure it all out. Whenever you’re ready to go, you just hit “Yes, Pick Me Up” on the pre-trip screen and the driver will roll around the corner and pick you up kerbside. Sometimes, it really is that simple.
This Uber Reserve airport pickups service is currently only available for their Premier rides, but will likely expand to Uber’s more affordable tiers if it is well received.
Additionally, the brand-new Travel feature will directly import any of your upcoming travel plans from Gmail, Outlook, or Hotmail into the Uber app. It’ll organise and present all of the flights, hotels, and rides in your itinerary in one location. It’ll also let you reserve rides in advance and receive 10% back in Uber credits.
