Send in those requests for annual leave, Virgin Australia has announced a tasty sale on flights between Melbourne and Sydney at a record low price of $39 (including baggage, seat selection, Velocity Frequent Flyer Points, and Status Credits).
The move comes in response to a challenge issued by rival carrier Rex to match their $39 Sydney and Melbourne fares. Safe to say, the challenge has been answered.
“I believe this initiative will singlehandedly revive a moribund travel and hospitality industry in the two cities,” says John Sharp, Rex Deputy Chairman.
“The resulting copycat moves from our competitors will mean that there will be hundreds of thousands of $39 fares available.”
