Sydney will soon have the opportunity to catch some decent waves all year round with the announcement that Wisemans Surf Lodge – a $75 million project positioned to become the country’s very first premium resort-style surfing destination – has been greenlit by the Hills Shire Council.
Located just an hour from the Sydney CBD or 45 minutes via boat from Palm Beach, Wisemans Surf Lodge will feature a state-of-the-art wave pool that’s approximately “four football fields stacked”, capable of generating swells up to 2.5 metres high on the main peak and ideal beginner rides on the secondary peak every 17 seconds, as well as rides with a duration of 10-12 seconds.
But there’ll be an entire world of delights to enjoy outside of the wave pool itself. The proposal for this forthcoming attraction also entails 54-suite hotel, a 9-hole golf course developed on The Retreat at Wisemans, premium restaurants, premium bars, even conference facilities to accommodate for any would-be corporate retreats, and of course, primo Wisemans Ferry riverfront access.

“As a Sydney surfer, we don’t have the access to consistent, high-quality
waves all year round like other parts of Australia,” says John Du Vernet, Co-Founder at Wisemans Surf Lodge.
“Advances in wave-making technology can completely change that reality. What we’ll create at Wisemans is a solution to access the types of waves we’d often have to travel overseas for, waves we dream about.”
“We’ve focused on creating a space that thinks about everything beyond the pool, even for the non-surfer, within a resort-like facility in a magical, and somewhat secret part of Sydney.”
For those who aren’t guests at the hotel, access will be provided through a membership model.
Wisemans Surf Lodge is scheduled to begin construction mid to late next year and officially open in 2022.
