The day our collective fascination with crime dies down is the day studios… finally stop pumping out crime dramas. Until then, we have plenty of binge material to burn through — including Narcos co-creator Chris Brancato’s forthcoming eight-part affair dubbed Hotel Cocaine.
Co-produced by MGM Studios and Australia’s own Stan, Hotel Cocaine tells the story of Roman Compte (Danny Pino) — Cuban exile, CIA operative, and general manager of the Hotel Mutiny, which was the epicentre of Miami’s glam cocaine scene during the late ’70s/early ’80s.
This glitzy den of illegality doubled as a nightclub and restaurant; and was frequented by what could only be described as a human menagerie: Florida businessmen and politicians… international narcos… CIA and FBI agents… and of course, the celebs (models, sports stars, musicians, etc).

Pino, who you may recall from Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC and Law & Order: SVU, has been joined by the one and only Michael Chiklis, Mark Feuerstein, Yul Vazquez, Tania Watson, Corina Bradley, and Aussie talent Laura Gordon (of Late Night with the Devil fame).
In addition to being the series creator, Chris Brancato has also served as both executive producer and showrunner. Pilot episode director Guillermo Navarro — the legendary cinematographer behind Tarantino‘s Jackie Brown and Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim — has also executive produced alongside Michael Panes and Alfredo Barrio Jr.
Hotel Cocaine premieres on Stan next month — official release date: June 17th, 2024. Check out the first full-length trailer above.
