Christmas is coming early to Amazon Prime Video this year as Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and the Hamster himself, Richard Hammond, head to France (sorta) for their latest lockdown/holiday special – The Grand Tour Presents: Carnage A Trois.
While this has been billed as the “France special”, and is probably how you found this article on Google, due to the ongoing global matter of a certain spicy cough, The Grand Tour Presents: Carnage A Trois was actually filmed entirely within the UK.
“France. We like their food, their wine… but French cars can be a bit weird,” says Jeremy Clarkson, to which James May later quips if you’re French, “that’s just what a car looks like.”
“The French pretty much invented motorsports, and certainly today, we will be adhering to French rules.”

Immediately after, the trailer cuts to a French flag with a plate + cutlery silhouette superimposed upon it being waved, prompting a procession of rallycross whips to halt dead in their tracks, and every one of their respective drivers to disengage the engines for lunch.
As expected from the trio of lovable goofballs – or as one YouTube commenter succinctly described them, an old man, a buffoon, and small child – plenty of shenanigans, stunts, and so forth are on the cards, including (though not limited to):
- the destruction of a Citroen 2CV via 500-foot helicopter drop
- the destruction of a Citroën Berlingo via cliff throw
- one Leyat Hélica complete with airplane propeller being piloted by Hammond, which provokes the camera crew to run for cover
- Clarkson hurlig himself out of a moving vehicle
- and of course, the obligatory explosion
Watch the first trailer for The Grand Tour Presents: Carnage A Trois (French Special) above and keep an eye out for it on Amazon Prime Video come December 17th.
