Wrestling legend, movie star, and walking meme – John Cena – has a softer side when he isn’t slamming opponents into the canvas, which we were reminded of last week when the man was certified by the Guinness World Record organisation for some remarkable generosity. The WWE champion is now the record holder of the most wishes granted through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, after pledging to grant 650 wishes to children with critical illnesses.
This isn’t the first time Cena has worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with the muscle-bound entertainer granting his first wish back in 2002. A decade later, he granted the 1,000th wish that the Make-A-Wish Foundation had ever given to a child named Colton, cementing his commitment to the charity.

Another decade later, Cena is the most requested celebrity in the Make-A-Wish Foundation program alongside Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and Samuel L Jackson who have also participated in the world-renowned initiative. Prior to Cena’s world record-breaking donation, no person had ever granted more than 200 wishes in the 42-year history of the Make-A-Wish Foundation program.
“There is no more humbling experience than a child who could ask for anything in the world asking to meet me,” John Cena said in a statement.
“I have faced some of the toughest superstars in WWE history and I’ve never encountered more bravery or toughness than I see in each wish kid that I meet.”
John Cena might be a 16-time world champion in the WWE, but he’s clearly still got his heart in the right place when it comes to his fans, especially those doing it the toughest. For the 650 kids in the Make-A-Wish Foundation program that will get the chance to meet Cena face to face, his donation isn’t going to be forgotten in a hurry.
