Jeff Bezos’ 127-metre Oceanco Y721 superyacht Koru has been spotted out on the open ocean, after a controversial start to its life that requested a historic Netherlands bridge to be dismantled just for it to leave the shipyard.
The gargantuan proportions of the vessel are more than worthy of one of the wealthiest men to ever walk this earth and the majority of its construction is now completed, with nearly five years passing since the sailing yacht was first announced in 2018.
Koru, which translates as the Māori word meaning “new beginnings,” is a three-mast schooner that first hit the water for transportation at the end of last year and will become the world’s latest sailing yacht – the 142.8-metre Sailing Yacht A is technically classed as a motor-assisted sailing yacht – eclipsing the 109.5-metre Sea Cloud.

While the designer of the vessel is yet to be announced, it will be the largest yacht ever created in the Netherlands and will rank amongst the top five most expensive superyachts ever built with an estimated price tag of US$500 million (AU$720 million).
It arrives with a striking black hull contrasted by its white superstructure and while details of the Koru remain limited, it’s believed to have a large aft pool with multiple decks for sun lounging. Shouldn’t be too long before old man Bezos can enjoy some time off his shiny new toy.
