Once the humble vehicle of the working class tradie, utes are bigger, more powerful, and more luxurious than ever before. Itโ€™s a trend in the automotive game that has been gaining momentum for a few years now, but the freshly announced Brabus P 900 โ€œRocket Editionโ€ might be the most impressive weโ€™ve seen to date, created using a factory-fresh Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 as its starting point.

This outrageous pick-up was announced recently at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 as a limited edition of just ten vehicles, featuring an entirely custom-made rear tray that sits behind the roomy four-seater cabin. However, thatโ€™s only where the customisation begins, with the muscular car drawing power from a Brabus Rocket 900 4.5-litre V8 twin-turbo displacement engine that delivers an eye-watering 900 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,250 Nm.

All that power is expressed in a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 280km/h, which only leaves us wondering what its top speed would be if you took the reins off. The V8 engine is visible through a specially designed Brabus โ€œPowerViewโ€ hood window, which itself is framed by expertly crafted carbon fibre panelling.

Further details of the exterior include the 24-inch Brabus Monoblock Z โ€œPlatinum Editionโ€ Aero-Disc forged wheels, the valve-controlled sports exhaust system and the prepreg exposed carbon fibre front spoiler and fascia inserts. Once inside, your attention is immediately grabbed by the entirely bespoke and hand-made two-tone leather interior, which boasts the โ€œSeashell Diamondโ€ quilting pattern across its surface and perfectly compliments the red detailing throughout the rest of the cabin.

No matter which angle you look at it from, the Brabus P 900 โ€œRocket Editionโ€ is a head-turner of a vehicle that has more in common with a supercar than your average Hilux. Whatโ€™s also head-turning is the price, which rings the till up US$629,499 (AU$971,366) and cements its place as one of the most (if not the most) bonkers utes ever made.
