At the automotive auction event of 2023 so far, the RM Sotheby’s sale in Paris last week saw the sale of a one-off Bugatti Chiron Profilée that set a new auction record for the highest price ever paid for a new car. It offered clients the final, and we mean the final, chance to buy a W-16-powered Bugatti from the Italian automaker and after a furious bidding war the car hammered for an estimate-smashing €9,792,500 (AU$15,226,686).
Originally created to sit between the Chiron Sport and the Chiron Pur Sport models, this unique Chiron Profilée enjoys a quad-turbo W-16 engine that’s capable of a hair-raising 1500hp that perfectly pairs with its unique exterior design. With shortened gear ratios taken from the Pur Sport, the Chiron Profilée can hit a 0-100km/h sprint time of 2.3 seconds as well as a tarmac-melting top speed of 380km/h.
“With just one Chiron Profilée ever set to exist, it was important for us to offer the opportunity to acquire this piece of history to as many people as possible,” said the Bugatti managing director Hendrik Malinowski of the sale. Against a pre-sale estimate of around €4.2 million (AU$6.5 million), the unique Bugatti Chiron Profilée breezed past all expectations, earning itself a place in the auction record history books.
