Baseball superstar Mike Trout is taking his well-documented love affair with golf to the next level by enlisting the one and only Tiger Woods for the collaboration of a lifetime: his very own golf course located in Vineland, New Jersey.
Dubbed Trout National – The Reserve, the Los Angeles Angels centre fielder and three-time American League MVP came close to owning a golf course once before back in 2019. Of course, that was until the unfortunate (and generation-defining) arrival of COVID-19 derailed, well… everything, really. But now, the stars have re-aligned.
“It’s pretty incredible having a chance to own your own golf course,” Mike Trout, who apparently carries a handicap of “seven or eight” and averages “330 o 360” yards on his drives, told Sports Illustrated.

“Getting Tiger to design it is crazy. If you had told me before that this would happen one day, I would have said you are crazy. It’s more than I ever thought possible.”
Trout added: “My favourite golfer growing up obviously was Tiger. I thought it would be pretty cool to reach out. We reached out, got a positive vibe when we mentioned it, and got his team down to the site.”
“Once Tiger’s team came down to the site, they loved it. It’s surreal. I mean, it’s friggin’ Tiger!”
“I’ve always watched Mike on the diamond so when an opportunity arose to work with him on Trout National – The Reserve, I couldn’t pass it up,” Tiger Woods expressed via press statement.

“It’s a great site for golf and our team’s looking forward to creating a special course for Mike, [Mike’s wife] Jessica, [developer and Northeast Precast President] John Ruga and [John’s wife] Lorie.”
Aside from the 18-hole championship course, Trout National – The Reserve will also feature a practice range, dedicated short-game area, clubhouse, restaurant, as well as lodging and (for some reason) a wedding chapel.
While the overall design is still being decided upon, Trout himself has revealed we can expect a signature hole to an include an island green with various tee boxes known as “Mike’s Choice.”
“Obviously, it’s not fully done… And a lot of cool stuff will be happening in the clubhouse,” said Mike Trout.
