KITH x New Balance 990v3

Best Sneaker Releases May 2022

Ronnie Fieg’s KITH doesn’t miss when it comes to shoe collaborations, and his latest one with New Balance is no different, featuring a quartet of fresh colourways. Our favourite is the 990v3, with bold blue and red contrasting tones that work nicely in tandem with the earthy beige and brown hues that make up the suede and mesh upper. It’s a classic silhouette that is all the better for Fieg’s influence.

Salomon x Ciele Athletics Phantasm Road

Best Sneaker Releases May 2022

The world of performance running is a competitive one, so when you see the relatively small likes of Salomon and Ciele Athletics coming together and creating cool shoes, you can’t help but smile. The two brands released a two pairs of shoes, one being a trial shoe while the other is this black and white cheetah-spotted Phantasm Road. Weighing just 235g and containing Salomon’s propelling Energy Blade technology, it’s a shoe that looks great and moves quick.

Nike Zoom Fly 5

Nike remains one of the undisputed kings of quick kicks, and with the upcoming launch of the Nike Zoom Fly 5, they aren’t slowing down anytime soon. As an ultra-lightweight and propulsion-focused road running shoe, Nike is set to release two different colourways including the olive green you see here and a version in black. While the Nike VaaporFly and AlphaFly designs are likely to remain the best option for running the marathon distance, it’s understood that the Nike Zoom Fly 5 will be better suited to shorter distance efforts.

RHUDE Rhecess Low Sneakers SS22

Best Sneaker Releases May 2022

RHUDE founder Rhuigi Villaseñor has been a busy man of late, getting stuck into his new gig as Creative Director at Bally, but that hasn’t seen him neglecting his own brand. Timed with the announcement of the RHUDE Spring/Summer 2022 collection, we see the release of both Sky-Hi and Low silhouettes, but it was these White/Orange Low’s that caught our eye as being quintessentially RHUDE and wearable everyday. Inspired by vintage sneaker silhouettes, the quality of these Low’s is undisputed as they are handmade in Italy using supple calf leather.

Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Made In UK 991

If you’ve been reading Boss Hunting for a while, you’ll know how much the entire team is a fan of Aimé Leon Dore work over the last couple of years, and their collaborations with New Balance have been excellent since they debuted three years ago. The latest Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance Made In UK 991 is another heater you could wear as an everyday pair of wheels, with New Balance’s classic grey suede upper working nicely with highlights in drab green. It’s clean and far from attention seeking, which is why we keep loving what they’re doing.

Dover Street Market x Salomon XT-6

Founded by Rei Kawakubo, who was also the brains behind Comme des Garçons, Dover Street Market has steadily risen into the broader public consciousness of late thanks to collaborations including this one with Salomon. Using the Salomon XT-6 silhouette as its canvas, this Black/Black colourway is another under the radar release that would look as great as an everyday shoe as it would running through the mud.

Birkenstock x Ader Error Arizona Tech Black

Sure, it’s not exactly sandals weather right now, but that doesn’t mean this Birkenstock collaboration doesn’t deserve a closer look. Created in partnership with Korean brand Ader Error, the classic Arizona silhouette is one of four collaborative designs, featuring a soft black nubuck upper that contrasts nicely against the cork soles. Also boasting a set of high-tech buckles, these ratcheting numbers are a solid upgrate to the standard pin-buckle closures, without interrupting the signature two-strap design.
