If you were ever unsure about the running joke/formula behind a standard Jason Statham movie, one needn’t look any further than The Beekeeper trailer.
Directed by David Ayer — who famously helmed End of Watch and Fury; penned Training Day and the first Fast & Furious — this is yet another classic (though highly improbable) revenge fantasy starring our favourite career hard man.
After his friend and neighbour (Phylicia Rashad) ends her life over a phishing scam, Mr Clay (Jason Statham) sets out to exact his vengeance against the very company behind it. The twist? Mr Clay also happens to be a former operative of the clandestine “Beekeepers” organisation, who basically goes John Wick on anyone standing in his way.

This cinematic masterpiece has reunited Ayer with Street Kings collaborator Kurt Wimmer; the latter of whom has also penned The Thomas Crown Affair, Equilibrium, The Recruit, as well as Statham’s latest effort in Expend4bles.
Jason Statham and Phylicia Rashad are joined onscreen by the likes of Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, as well as Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver, and Academy Award winner Jeremey Irons. A job’s a job, I suppose.
The Beekeeper hits theatres on January 12th, 2024, ringing in the new year with some primo kino — check out the trailer above.
